Post Offices and Courier Companies in Ooty

Ooty got its first post office in 1826, when the services initiated in Government Bungalow of Ooty. The services were carried on here for a long time until 1833 when the services were shifted to Mount Road. The office that houses the Head Post office of Ooty is identified as a heritage building. This office serves as collection centre for other seven branches of the taluk.


The Postal Services in Ooty is covered under Western Region of Tamil Nadu Postal Circle with its headquarters situated at Coimbatore. The Postal services were initiated in the region during the days of East India Company. The Postal department efficiently handles large volume of mailers per day offering services like Speed Post, Express Parcel Post, Media Post, Logistic and retail post. These Post offices also offer financial services like Money Order, Postal Life Insurance, International Money Transfers, and Mutual Funds etc. The Head Post Office holds savings account of 1500 people which includes various sections of society and pensioners too.
